This letter we don't really use very often either. However there is one important word in Amharic that we use this letter for – "Ethiopia".
I know it is pronounced with a P (Ethio_pi_a); it's not necessarily correct, but it's ok because there isn't really an english letter equivilent to the sound "ጵ" would make. And so since "P" is the closest letter to the sound "ጵ" makes, in English we write "Ethiopia" with a P and pronounce it as a P. Just like how we don't have an Amharic letter equivilent to the sound "th" would make, therefore we just use the closest letters (t or z).
